Same pain, new location
I'm having the same pain that I had before my ablation procedure, except it is in a different new location. How long will this go on?
Question: It’s been 2 months since my GSV endovenous laser ablation procedure. I have the same pain that I had before the procedure, except it’s in a new location. It started 2 weeks after. Could this be related to the SSV and not the GSV? I had the PA do an ultrasound and he says it is inflammation, and that it is due to the procedure; it will take a while to heal. How long will the healing process take?
Answer: Sometimes this pain can be due to inflammation associated with the greater saphenous vein closure. As the body continues to break the vein down, the inflammation can increase and decrease even 2 months post procedure. You're right, however, in considering the small saphenous vein, particularly if the discomfort is in the calf or outside ankle area. Ultrasound is the correct way in evaluating which is causing your discomfort. You can consider natural supplements to help with inflammation if it is bothersome on a daily basis. The best ones for this type of inflammation is Diosmin and/or Arnica.
