Spider Vein Treatment
What is Sclerotherapy?
Sclerotherapy is a very popular office procedure that our vein center offers as a spider vein treatment. However, sclerotherapy can also be used to treat small to medium-sized varicose veins.
This is a minimally invasive treatment that requires no recovery time and the patient may drive themselves home. Walking right after the treatment is certainly recommended.
There are no incisions and anesthesia is not necessary, so the treatment is very convenient. The procedure involves injecting a solution into the problem vein, after which they fade from sight, leaving you with clearer, healthier looking legs.
Depending on your situation, it may be necessary to repeat the treatment several times. Patients tolerate sclerotherapy very well and only a small percentage do not respond to the procedure.Multiple treatments are usually carried out one month apart.
Sclerotherapy is often performed with other vein treatments such as EVLT, to heighten the results. It has been used for many decades with proven effectiveness.
Yelp Review Jilanne Rose
"I went to my appointment today and already can see results...Since I have had my veins done in the past, it has been a few years and needed touch up to my "bad leg." I have quite a few scar revisions from an old mva and was worried that I'd be in a lot of pain, not so...
I received gentle care. Jilanne is not only educated, she is a competent professional and an excellent vein eraser!
I can't wait to go back and have more done, if needed."

Thank you again Dr Jilanne that treated my wife and make her painless to her legs."

How is sclerotherapy done?
Using a very small needle, a sclerosant (chemical foam or liquid) is injected into the offending vein and acts as an irritant to the vein walls which causes them to close and be dissolved by the body. Over time, varicose or spider veins fade from sight, leaving you with clearer, healthier looking and feeling legs. Sometimes ultrasound guided sclerotherapy is carried out.
Your Advanced Vein Institute provider can treat several veins at the same time. The treatment lasts only between 15 to 30 minutes depending on the number of veins. which depends on the size and number of the veins treated.
Am I a good candidate for spider vein treatment?
Sclerotherapy cannot be performed if you are pregnant or nursing. It is not known whether the chemical sclerosant will cause birth defects. If you have a history of allergy to sclerosant or similar substances, treatment is not recommended.
Treatment may not be considered if you have had blood clots or inflammation in the deep leg veins (deep vein thrombosis - DVT).
What are the benefits of sclerotherapy over other treatments?
Sclerotherapy is the quickest of all procedures for vein treatment and this is a huge benefit. It is also very safe and practically painless.
It is very effective for cases where the patients experience primarily aesthetic discomfort. However, sclerotherapy can also relieve mild pain associated with this condition.
